欲别牵郎衣 郎今到何处 不恨归来迟 莫向临邛去 |
I want to leave these rustic clothes behind. But, today, where would I go? Don't be sad at my slow return. I can't face leaving Qionglai Mountain. |
-- 孟郊
废话
I think Meng Jiao is writing his first wife here. So he's in his early twenties and working away from home. And perhaps spending time on Qionglai Mountain. There were famous pottery kilns there in the Tang. Maybe he was working as a clerk for one of them. But not a steady job or he would have brought his wife. The similarities of this poem and the last suggest the last was from this period, too.
