Poems of Yu Xuanji
Rivers smooth things, one by one. It's hard to know how.
When the clouds come out, I don't have the heart to go back.
Melancholy spring wind sighs in a clear river dusk.
This mandarin duck is always alone, never flies with a flock.
Farewell (送别) is a very common title in Chinese poetry. This poem doesn't mention any details of seeing someone off. So it might be a poem she is practicing her poetry on. Yu Xuanji drops no hints about herself for us in these lines. So just enjoy the poem.
