Blue Creek, Recluse Ju's Thatched Hut

Cities cannot tolerate justice.
Justice finds its way to mountain valleys.
A gentleman who lives among the pines
Beckons me to perch here in his coop.

A simple man concerning himself with reverence
Who guards himself against all worldly noise.
A clear stream flowing to the river.
A tall bamboo swaying in the wind.

Woodcutters tire of cutting trees.
Old farmers all grow weary of the dust.
Not so of those concerned with reading,
Sweet source of mutual aspirations.

Creek banks, green and silent.
Blue peaks of lofty, distant jade.
At twilight, we each call for wine
As, among the orchids, crickets sing.
