Poems of Meng Jiao
All Kinds of Worries
Daylilies are a young girl's flower.
They do nothing for a hero's heart.
A warrior's heart is in their sword.
For their lord, they would shoot the moon.
Mornings, heroes plan to beat their enemies.
Evenings, they plan to beat them some more.
Thinking done, they go and paint a landscape
And never think of things like planting food.
Smart men have a thousand daily worries.
A stupid man has no more than four.
After we survive the big waves,
Why must we worry if we'll sink or float.
Respectfully, I am far from drunk.
It's broad daylight, I have nothing to hide.
For everyone, there is a time for leaving.
What others think is so much useless noise.
I think Meng Jiao has another girlfriend. And she's not too bright. So he's leaving her. And she says that if he were a man, he would stay. And there are daylilies around when all this get's fought over. But he's going no matter what she says. You can almost see it acted out as you read along. And so the eternal mating and breeding and abandoning dance goes on. Now go back, read it again and see if you don't agree with me.
