Poems of Li Ye
Parting Gift on a Moonlit Night
Leave-takers do not speak. The moon is silent, too.
Full moon glows with light. Leave-takers glow, too.
After parting, missing starts, seems just like a moon:
Amid the clouds, upon the waves, passing out of sight.
Not much to say about this poem. So let me give a literal version for your contemplation:
parting people without speech moon without sound
bright moon has brightness people have passions
parting after each-other think people as-if moon
cloud amid river upon reach layered city
