Poems of Bai Juyi
Fine silks wet with tears. Dreams won't come.
Late at night, within the halls, faint song is sung.
Lovely face is far from old when favor is withdrawn.
Reclining in a gilded cage and waiting for the dawn.
I don't know when Bai Juyi wrote this. It reminds me of Song of Long Regret and could have been written around the same time. But who knows?
